Raymond Reeder, Influential Grammy-winning Producer and Songwriter Passes Away

The music community is mourning the loss of Raymond Reeder, a Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter, arranger, and vocalist. Reeeder passed away Sunday, February 8 at age 63. He was a musical visionary and a creative force whose influence had significant impact in the music world.

Reeder’s passing marks the loss of a multi-talented artist whose fingerprints can be found on some of gospel music’s most celebrated recordings and performances. An original member of Richard Smallwood, Vision, Reeder wrote “Be Open,” which appeared on the 1998 album Healing: Live in Detroit.

His musical acclaim was solidified by his production work on Yolanda Adams’ album The Experience, which included the song “Save the World.” That project earned a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album, with Reeder, who served as her musical director was credited as a producer. A diverse songwriter, he wrote “With You,” the Tony Terry hit.

Raymond Reeder’s legacy will live on in recordings that will continue to inspire worshippers, music lovers, and aspiring artists.
