Jason Nelson, best-known for his gospel gems “Forever” and “Residue,” has nabbed his fifth No. 1 gospel chart hit with “Yahweh,” which features the rising GRAMMY® Award-nominated gospel star Melvin Crispell III. The worship ballad has amassed over 5 million U.S. domestic streams and over 25 million airplay impressions. The song is No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending January 18th and No. 1 on Mediabase’s Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending January 19th. The track anchors Nelson’s seventh album, You Belong (Jaelyn Song Music/ Tyscot / FairTrade). The album was recorded live at World Overcomers Christian Church in Durham, NC in the summer of 2023. Aside from Crispell, the set features cameos from vocal giants such as Zacardi Cortez, Madison Ryann Ward, and Shawn Bigby. The project was Nelson’s first live recording since 2018’s The Answer project.
A Baltimore, Maryland native, Nelson has been active on the national stage since 2005. Over the years, he’s enjoyed a string of gospel radio hits such as “Shifting the Atmosphere,” “Nothing Without You,” “I Am” and “Forever” that have earned him over 100 million digital streams. The 2021 studio album Close featured the No. 1 radio smash “Residue” and the Top Ten cut, “All I Need.” The set also featured cameos from R&B music legend Chrisette Michele and Jazz great John Patitucci.
