Richard Smallwood Launches Foundation Honoring Mother

Richard Smallwood honored his late mother by launching a foundation in her memory.  The Mabel R. Smallwood Foundation launch took place Friday, April 26 at Howard University’s Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Smallwood was a foster parent who cared for 14  children throughout the years and also nurtured many other children in the surrounding neighborhood. Several attended and share their stories about the love and care they received. R&B singer and former Smallwood Singer A’ngela Winbush performed. Edwin Hawkins sent a video message of support.

“God gave me a very special mother that was meant to be shared with the world,” Richard Smallwood told the audience.

It was an amazing event and definitely a worthy cause. If you’d like to support Richard Smallwood‘s efforts to help  young people through the foundation, visit mabelrsmallwood.com
