Last night, Faith City Music held their live concert celebration for their debut album, Welcome to Faith City, at Spirit of Faith Christian Center. The group is led by TimBowman Jr., an American Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award-nominated gospel artist. He assembled a dynamic group of singers. Faith City is brimming with talent, which definitely showed during the release celebration!
Pastors Mike and DeeDee Freeman took to the stage to welcome the audience. They shared a little backstory on the group’s formation, with its album being created shortly before the pandemic hit. But their welcome soon morphed into passionate testimonies and a time of prayer for those in prayer.
Gospel artist Lexi served as the night’s host and kept the audience laughing throughout the night. The evening also saw video congratulations from various artists, including Tasha Cobb Leonard and Miranda Curtis, who declared of Faith City, “they are the future!”
After kicking off the night with a high-energy song, Faith City ceded the stage to their guest artists. Vicki Winans had the audience shouting in the aisles with her classic, “As Long As I Got King Jesus.” It was a cavalcade of artists. Jermaine Dolly sang fan favorite “Jesus”. Others taking the stage included Melvin Crispell, Major, and Jekayln Carr. Rev. Teddy R. Reeves, curator of religion at the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., was on hand to present a Smithsonian honor. The music created and the community, despite the challenges of the pandemic, will be in the annals of the museum for years to come.
Faith City closed out the evening with some songs from their album, including “Surrounded” and “Nobody But God,” and sprinkled in old standards as well, like “In the Name of Jesus,” “The Blood,” and “I Surrender All.” The songs, the energy, and the star power on the stage, including Miranda Curtis and Bri Babineaux, were a fitting conclusion to a night that unveiled Faith City Music as a premier group destined to make an impact in the industry with their fresh approach to worship.
Spotted in the audience were recent Charles Butler, Maurette Brown-Clark, Wiliam McMillan, and Cheryl Jackson.
