KELONTAE GAVIN’S ‘AT THE MEETING’ SNAGS A BILLION TIKTOK VIEWS AND LANDS ON BET

The dynamic gospel vocalist Kelontae Gavin is celebrating over a billion TikTok views for his South Carolina Lowcountry gospel song, “At the Meeting” (Kelontae Gavin Enterprise, Inc. / Tyscot Records). The nostalgic ditty has spurred a cross-cultural bouncy dress frenzy that’s been featured in thousands of social media videos where church ladies are dancing so hard that their long dresses bounce. “It’s a low country banger,” Gavin laughs. “People were getting dressed for church and started using the snippet that I sang live to show what they were wearing that day. I’m excited that this is the first traditional sounding single I’ve ever put out because it’s my roots and it’s my home, I’m excited about introducing this type of music into the airwaves especially since I’m known for contemporary gospel.”

Gavin joined quartet legends Melvin Williams (of The Williams Brothers) and Paul Porter (of The Christianaires) to rock the song at the 41st annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards that aired on the Black Entertainment Television (BET) cable channel this past weekend. After they finished the song, the audience wouldn’t let it go and kept singing until the trio came back for a brief reprise.

Now, Gavin is making an official music video for the song that debuted at No. 27 on this week’s Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart. Because his fans made the song popular, Gavin is inviting them to be in the video by making their own video submission. They are directed to make either a TikTok or Instagram video using the audio of Kelontae Gavin’s rendition of “At the Meeting” in their clip and posting it online with the hashtag #ATMFANVIDEO. Gavin will then use several of the submissions in his official music video.

Gavin’s career started in 2014 when a cafeteria worker at his high school filmed him singing “I Won’t Complain.” The video showcased his incredible vocal skills, went viral and earned him a recording contract with Tyscot Records. His breakthrough song “No Ordinary Worship” peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart in 2018 and earned him millions of digital streams. Since that time, he’s scored three Billboard No. 1 Gospel Airplay single smashes with “Great” (2021), “Hold Me Close” (2021) and “Live Again” (2024). He earned a Dove Award nomination as New Artist of the Year in 2019 and five Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations to date. Gavin’s three albums and various singles have earned him over 125 million digital streams.
