After more than three decades of inspiring audiences through powerful worship anthems and timeless Gospel music, celebrated recording artist, songwriter, and worship leader Lamar Campbell returns with “Okay In The Morning,” a moving new anthem of hope from Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise. Rooted in personal loss, strengthened by faith, and filled with encouragement, the song reminds listeners that no matter how difficult the night may be, God’s faithfulness offers hope for a new day.

Since founding Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise in 1995, Campbell has built a legacy as one of Gospel music’s respected voices. They made history as the first act signed to EMI Gospel (now Motown Gospel) and released six Stellar Award-nominated projects. Their influence has extended beyond Gospel music through collaborations with artists, including Gospel legend CeCe Winans, soul icon Aaron Neville, and Southern Gospel great Bill Gaither. Campbell and Spirit of Praise have cultivated an impressive catalog of recordings, including “Open the Sky,” “It’s All About the Love,” “Closer,” and the enduring worship favorite “More Than Anything.” These songs have touched generations of listeners and remain staples in worship services worldwide.
With “Okay In The Morning,” Campbell enters a deeply personal chapter of his musical journey. Following the loss of his mother and navigating some of life’s most challenging seasons, the veteran worship leader found himself confronting grief while witnessing others endure their own struggles. In the midst of that pain, a simple yet powerful message took root in his spirit: It will be okay in the morning.
“Okay In The Morning came out of that place. God put those words in my spirit when I needed them. Before it became a song to share with anybody else, it was something I had to hold on to,” Campbell shares. “You can love God, believe His Word, and still have days when you need encouragement yourself.”
He continues, “Okay In The Morning was birthed from a season of personal pain, loss, and unwavering faith. What began as a personal word of encouragement became a message of hope for anyone walking through a difficult season. This song reminds us that no matter how dark the night gets, trouble doesn’t have the final say. God is still faithful, and morning is still coming.”
For Lamar Campbell and Spirit of Praise, the mission remains the same: to create music that inspires worship, strengthens faith, and draws people closer to God. As they continue their celebrated musical journey, this timely new anthem offers a powerful reminder that even in seasons of sorrow, hope remains. The night may be difficult, but the promise of morning is still ahead.
