New Gospel Singer Tecola Campbell makes her debut

The windy city has given the world great singers such as Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan. Now, there’s a 24-year-old singer named Tecola Campbell blowing through the church and gospel music community with her debut single, “Only You Can Deliver” (Keeler Ave Entertainment). She has strong support pushing her career forward. She and 6x Grammy® Award-winning R&B star and Maroon 5 member, PJ Morton, share a manager who is combing his wide network to land her opportunities such as a potential HBCU college tour.

“I am almost lost for words when I think about what God is doing,” Campbell says. “I never imagined that the five-year-old little girl who loved Jesus and loved to sing for His glory would one day be here. I’m incredibly grateful for the beautiful connections God has allowed me to make with people who are genuine, blessed, humble, and incredibly talented.”

That network helped bring some of the biggest session musicians in the business to craft “Only You Can Deliver,” a cover of worship leader Kevin Vasser’s 2013 release. The track was produced by gospel icon Fred Hammond’s longtime music director and keyboardist, Phil Feaster. Queen of soul Aretha Franklin’s longtime sideman, Richard Gibbs, played organ. Derrick “Swol” Ray, from Justin Timberlake’s band, played bass. The all-star rhythm section features Calvin Rodgers, who’s toured with Beyoncé and The Isley Brothers, on drums. They were backed by the dynamic praise team at New Beginnings Church in Chicago.

A preacher’s kid, Campbell’s father, Bishop Melvin Campbell, is pastor of the Christ Temple Church in Bloomington, IL, and her late mother, Dr. Edyth Campbell, was a Pentecostal evangelist. Growing up in that environment, she’s sung in churches all her life and she began preaching at the age of 16. She earned a B.A. degree in Creative Arts from Illinois State University in 2024 and is now pursuing a master’s degree in education. However, music and this new single, “Only You Can Deliver, are just as important to her.

“My prayer is that every listener would not only hear this song, but truly feel the presence of God and the power of its message,” she adds. “No matter what season of life you may be in, remember seasons always change. And until it changes, this is one of those songs that will pull you through it all, reminding you that Only Jesus can truly deliver! I have lived out these lyrics, and I pray that this song turns into a testimony for all who hear it.”
