Zak Williams launches ‘Choir Storm’ on Philadelphia’s Gospel Highway 11

Stellar Award Winning Producer Zak Williams is bringing the choir sound back to Gospel radio with his show, “Choir Storm”. The program, which has been heard on on Sunday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., is now hitting terrestrial radio. Launched on Saturday, May 7, 2016, the program is heard on Philadelphia’s WNAP 1110AM, Gospel Highway 11, every Saturday afternoon from 4p.m. – 6p.m. EST. The show will also stream on

The program features classics and contemporary Gospel music from artists such as Thomas Whitfield, Keith Pringle & The Pentecostal Community Choir, Rev. James Cleveland, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Ricky Dillard & New G and a slew of other great artists. In addition to established choirs and ensembles, Williams wants to give up-and-coming choirs a chance for exposure. He’s created a segment called “Who Dat Choir?” which features choirs that Gospel music fans may not have been introduced to yet.

Zak Williams has Choir Storm

A choir master in his own right, Zak Williams has always had a love for Gospel choirs. A Philadelphia native, he grew up at Macedonia Baptist Church and loved listening to groups like the Savettes, The Philadelphia Mass Choir and The Freeman Memorial Choir. He attended the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and started playing for local choirs. He soon became the organist for Rev. Ernest Davis, Jr.’s Wilmington Chester Mass and is currently the choir’s Musical Director. The renowned choir won two Stellar Awards for their CD, He’s Still Good, produced by Williams.

During his illustrious career, Zak has played for the greats in Gospel including Dorothy Norwood, Steven Ford, Dottie Peoples, Deitrick Haddon, Dr. Bobby Jones and the late Daryl Coley. He is also the leader of Zak Williams & 1/AKORD, a dynamic singing ensemble which is currently readying a brand new release.
