THE PATH TO FRUITFULNESS AND PROSPERITY

A Word-filled life is bound to be fruitful.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on His law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3

Every person wants to lead a fruitful and prosperous life. We each want our lives to be blessed and productive. The question is how do we accomplish that? The Psalmist lays out the path:
First: Do not follow the advice of the wicked and do not hang out with sinners or join with people whose intentions in life are questionable. Such people are bound to infuse you with ideas that will eventually lead you astray and destroy your life.

The steps are clear: When you start “walking” with sinners, it is only a matter of time before you start “standing” with them and then “sitting” with them because their ways are now pleasing to you. In other words, their sinful ideas and ways become so captivating to you that you start gravitating toward them. That is a sure path to fruitlessness in life. Sin has the capacity to choke out your potential and destroy your life.

Second: Instead of “walking” with sinners, “standing” with them and eventually “sitting” to enjoy their company and potentially destroying your life; delight in the Word of God and meditate on it day and night. Such a conscious decision to delight yourself in the Word of God will cause your life to be fruitful because of the constant nourishment of wisdom and divine guidance that you will receive from the Word. This continual nourishment of grace into your life can be likened to a tree that is planted by a river. The roots draw nutrients from the river on a continual basis and therefore the leaves never wither and there is no lack of fruit.

So, do you want your life to be fruitful and prosperous? Then resolve to do this: Anchor yourself deep in the Word of God. Walk in the guidance of the Word and God will endow you with the grace and wisdom to be prosperous and fruitful. A Word-filled life is bound to be fruitful.

Prayer: Father, please help me to delight myself in your word at all times so that the grace that is resident in your Word will overshadow my life and make me fruitful and prosperous. Amen.
