Steven Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Minute Events was surrounded by friends, family, elected officials and members of the community when he broke ground for his second restaurant, In A Minute Cafe and Lounge, on Thursday, May 19, 2021. The restaurant is located in the Largo Shopping Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. The ceremony was hosted by Barbara Holt Streeter, founder of MrsPRProtocol.
Delegate Diana Fennell, District 47A remarked that she met Wilson 5 years ago and that “the food is actually phenomenal! I fell in love with it the first time he did an event for me.”
Delegate Darryl L. Barnes, Maryland District 25 and Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland said, “I am overjoyed. I am excited, I am thrilled. This is something to be celebrated. This is not only good for Prince George’s County but this is also good for the state of Maryland.” He stated that this was just the beginning and encouraged the community to support Wilson. Delegate Barnes presented Wilson with a congratulatory citation from the state of Maryland for his dedication and commitment to the community.
Wilson operates the extremely popular In A Minute Cafe located in Capitol Heights which is well known for its tasty crab cakes, wings and healthy menu options. The journey began for Wilson when he opened his Minute Events Catering in 2013. Over time has made him the go-vendor for both small and high profile events. With the addition of the second location, Wilson not only expands the availability of his popular cuisine to a new community, but he plans to offer a Sunday Gospel Brunch featuring DJ Kasper. This will certainly to be popular in an area that sits in close proximity to several churches,
Overcome with emotion, Wilson said, “I just want to encourage everyone that dreams do come true. It takes work, it takes patience, you lose sleep, but all things are possible to those who work hard and believe. You can do anything if you put your heart and God into it.”
Largo Center Property Manager, Jackie Waters said, “Everybody is very excited that In A Minute Cafe is coming. I went around to visit the tenants yesterday and the words already gotten out. They are all very excited that this restaurant is coming and they’re looking forward to it and we’re glad he’s here too.” During the ceremony Waters remarked that the center doesn’t have the type of food Wilson is offering so it’s a welcome addition.
Other dignitaries on hand included Tisa Clark Chair, J.D. Clark Professional Services and Chauka Reid, Business Development Manager. Refreshments were provided by Minute Events Catering and Pepsi representatives were on hand to provide beverages.
