Kevin Durant makes headlines all the time for his basketball prowess. He’s a household name in many homes and an athlete that many young people admire for his gifts on the hardwood. But long before Durant made history as a 2017 NBA Champion with the Golden State Warriors and recipient of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award, he was a resident of Prince George’s County. On Thursday, Seat Pleasant, Maryland welcomed their own as a huge crowd came out to celebrate Kevin Durant Day.
Hundreds cheered and greeted Durant as he joined parade with his NBA championship trophy firmly in hand. Durant’s roots runs deep. He played high school basketball at National Christian Academy in Fort Washington before finishing his senior year at Montrose Christian School in Rockville.
