Javon Inman shines spotlight on love with ‘AGAPE EROS’ release concert

It’s been nearly six years since Javon Inman caught our attention with his breakthrough album, Heart of a Worshipper. On Friday, Nov 10, Javon presented his sophomore album, AGAPE EROS with a release concert at the Cultural Arts Center at Montgomery College in Silver Spring, MD.  Praise 104.1 FM radio personality Denise Hill served as the evening’s host. The concert focused on love at its core with a spiritual and romantic dynamic

Javon kicked off the night with the lead single, “Love Covers,” which featured Music Society. The ground Javon Inman and CD Porter performincludes Clifford R. Flowers, Jr., Duane X. Gray, Todd Gholar, CD Porter, Darren Franklin, Steve Swann, Rob Mercer and Germain O. Bryant.  The fellas seamlessly complemented one another vocally. That was even more apparent on their stylized version of The Winans‘ “The Question Is.” The surprise of the night happened when Javon grabbed a guitar and joined his friend, CD Porter. Javon said he’d only been playing for a few months, but appears to be a quick-study.

The night turned into a family affair as his sons Christian and Isaiah joined Javon for “Revelation Song” backed by United Voices of Worship. It was a special moment to see a father and his sons in worship.
After intermission, the night gave way to Eros.

The set featured several guest artists, including James Cheeks, Michelle Carter Williams, Alkeshia Williams and Russ Shanks. The night was capped off with an energetic rendition of Stevie Wonder‘s “Higher Ground” which not only showcased Jovan’s vocals,  but those of the background vocalists and the amazing band.

Prior to tonight’s concert, Javon Inman said, “This entire album was birthed out of obedience and prayer. The end result is, AGAPE EROS – God’s response to a world that desperately needs love in our lives, relationships, and society. This record is Luke 14:23 in action – “Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.” Through the love of God, this album reaches to the forgotten, strengthens the weak, and fans the flame in marriages. It blows my mind that He allowed me to create this art for such a time as this. I cannot wait for the world to hear it! It’s all His agenda…I’m just tagging along for the ride.”

It was a great night with Javon Inman showing his versatility and willingness to explore all aspects of love, but through it all, the focus remained on Jesus who is the ultimate purveyor or love in its purest form. Shining brightly through all of his performances was the authenticity of Javon Inman’s heart.  The band was great, the singers were on point and it was a nice collection of songs that made this CD release concert, an evening well- spent!

Spotted in the audience were Jerome Bell, Jimmy Russell, Kevin LEvar, Robert E. Person, Kendall King, Donald Simms, Derek Dunn and many other fellow artists who came out to support their peer.

AGAPE EROS is available on all digital outlets.
