'Hope Is What We Crave Live' Album Review

There’s nothing like a live album, especially one that includes a DVD. That’s what you get fgrom recent 2013 New Artists, for King and Country. The duo released Hope Is What We Crave Live  CD/DVD on October 15, 2o13. Anyone who has ever seen brothers  Joel and Luke Smallbone in concert know that they are full of energy so this DVD will more than satisfy.

Hope Is What We Crave Live contains 9 tracks  from their critically-acclaimed debut album, Crave. It was  filmed at The Factory in Franklin, Tenn. on the final night of their headline tour. There’s also a behind the scenes look at the making of their music video for “The Proof of Your Love.”

The duo puts a different spin on “Missing,” but the message still resonates just as strongly as the original.  Of course the song that put for King and Country on the map, “Busted Heart (Hold On To Me)” is included. Given the October release date, the inclusion of the Christmas-themed “Baby Boy'” seems perfect for the impending holidays.

The DVD does more than just give fans a performance. On “Light It Up” we get to hear what led to the creation of the song.  They get the crowd in involved on “Fine Fine Life” One of the most powerful tracks is their performance “Proof of Your Love” which builds to a worship experience that is palpable on the screen. Another exciting entry is the “Proof of Love” monologue by Joel Smallbone. It brings the album to a impassioned conclusion.

Hope Is What We Crave Live is a great live album. It encapsulates everything that great and unique about this British duo.  After seeing their powerful performances, undoubtedly many will make plans to see for King and Country live.
