First Lady Michelle Obama Raises Critical Issues At NCLR Conference

First Lady Michelle Obama speaks at NCLR ConferencePointing to health issues like the rise of diabetes, the First Lady spoke to more than 1,800 attendees at the National Council of La Raza, the  Latino community’s biggest national conference this past Tuesday in New Orleans, LA .

Pointing to health issues like the rise of diabetes, the First Lady also encouraged parents to take a more active role in ensuring their kids make healthy choices.

“Food is love,” said First Lady Michelle Obama, “but, while food might be love, the truth is that we are loving ourselves and our kids to death.”

She highlighted the growing power of the Latino community, especially when it comes to the marketplace, and encouraged attendees to demand healthy, affordable food for their families.
