The Gospel Heritage DMV Regional Worship Summit was held at Bible Way Temple in Washington, D.C. on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. Gospel Heritage Founder Dr. Teresa E Hairston joined Regional Director Pastor Jerome Allen Bell for a night of exhortation and songs that celebrated gospel music.
It was a grand gathering that included pastors, musicians, gospel artists, praise and worship leaders and those who have a deep appreciation for the genre. Bishop Alfred Owens, Pastor Grainger Browning, Gerald Scott, Clifton Ross III, Mike McCoy, Michael White, Robert E. Person, Pastor Jeremiah Murphy, Apostle & Co-Pastor Marvin E. McCoy & Veda McCoy, Jimmy Russell and many others!!!!!!!
Pastor Jerome Bell made it a lively one as host as he was a walking history book about gospel music in the DMV and sprinkled anectdotes along the way.
Ebenezer AME Church’s Pastor Grainger Browning gave what was called a lecture, bit was actually a powerful word with the title, “I’m Chosen.”
Teresa Hairston spoke about the current state of gospel music. She said that many have gotten good at “putting on this this thing called worship” but stated that it is often taken off outside the four walls. She admonished that it was a lifestyle.
Each year, Gospel Heritage presents the International Worship Summit. The two and a half day event presents offers seminars and preaching. Next year’s summit is scheduled for Feb 23-25, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Register here.
DMV Community Choir was an aggregation of many recording artists and worship leaders who came together in unity for this event.
Bishop Alfred Owens brought the final message and which got the audience to his feet and he relected on the earlier songs in biblical times.
Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church Choir capped off the night with several great performances.
Saturday morning gave way to a gospel workshop that included Marvin E. McCoy, Clifton Ross III,Maria Jenkins, Andrea Williams and Ronnette Harrison. Valuable industry knowledge was gained during the workshop.

This year’s summit will go down as one of the best and one that was executed very well by a great team.
