The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted a Pre-Dove Awards reception at ASCAP Nashville on Monday, October 10. The event celebrated ASCAP’s 2016 nominees for the 47th Annual GMA (Gospel Music Association) Dove Awards. Motown Gospel artists and Dove Award nominees Janice Gaines and Brian Courtney Wilson gave special performances at the reception, along with appearances by several other Dove Award nominees and special guests. Attendees included Anthony Brown, Steve Watts, Troy Chambers and Sean Cook.
Nominee Janice Gaines performed during the reception. Her Billboard Top 10 debut album, Greatest Life Ever, netted the artists a nomination for “Wait On You,” which offers soulful pop on a beautifully crafted ballad. Janice is also expecting her first child with husband, EJ Gaines, Vice President of Marketing at Motown Gospel.
Brian Courtney Wilson performed as well. His single, “Worth Fighting For” received a nod for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Song of the Year and the full album was nominated in the Traditional Gospel Album of the Year category.
