Album Review: Anthony Evans 'Real Life, Real Worship'

Real Life, Real Worship is the first album from Anthony Evans after his stint on The Voice.  The praise and worship leader stays true to his calling in this 12-track offering.

Evans wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album, many of them with worship leader Martha Munizzi. Real Life, Real Worship has a worship vibe with a pop  and R&B infusion making it not only music for the soul, but easy listening for music lovers with its broad appeal.

“Never Fail” is a joyful, upbeat song with an encouraging message.  “Greater Is He’ is the perfect worship anthem and Evans ….  ‘ On ‘What Could Have Been” you can feel the passion throughout the song and the reflective nature as Evans sings of assessing perhaps untapped potential.

“I Found You”  is a song  Evans dedicated to a group of new friends and communicates the value of in the tender ballad that is filled with multiple musical layers. “Somebody to Call Home” passionately intones the importance of a stable family life  and not just a career.

No Condemnation, based on Romans 8:1  reminds us that we are free and no longer need to live with shame features his sister Priscilla Shirer providing an exhortation.  His mother Lois Evans joins him on “I Wont Forget” that speak of God’s who always keeps us in remembrance. There are other wonderful turns on “Something Beautiful,” “Ask” and “Mercy Tree.”

Overall the album is delivers with honesty and passion for God and  the world. He seems to sing with his heart and soul in each lyric. With his blend of worship, pop and R&B  styles, Anthony Evans has taken his song to a new level while remaining true to his goal of real life and real worship.
