Zie’l comes out of the gate stronger than ever with their new single”State of Emergency,” which has already been a top “new and noteworthy” mover on iTunes. Written by the trio’s own Keyondra Lockett, “State of Emergency” is the first Gospel single to be released by Dream Records – which has recently launched a Gospel division with Zie’l as one of its key signings.
Produced by ASCAP Award winning, Grammy nominated Drathoven (Tyrese, Yolanda Adams, Shei Atkins, Zacardi Cortez, Jacob Lattimore), “State of Emergency” captures listeners with a track that perfectly blends a traditional church and urban contemporary sound with spine-tingling vocals that amplify the song’s message of crying out to the Lord about your personal state of emergency, whatever it may be.
Drathoven says, “I had to pull over when Keyondra first sang the lyrics to me over the phone. The song grabbed me immediately, and I wanted to create a track that had the same sense of urgency I heard when Keyondra was singing. I wanted the music to complement the lyrics and to have an immediate impact on listeners.”
“State of Emergency came from some experiences in my life. I’ve been in dire straits and found myself needing The Lord and he came through for me! The Bible says that they we overcome by the word of our testimony. I pray that my testimony through this song helps someone else make it through their state of emergency.” – Keyondra
“This is the perfect song for anyone who feels their back is up against the wall and they don’t know what to do or say. I’m so proud of my sister for sharing these lyrics with us and the world. My prayer is that ‘State of Emergency’ blesses the nations immensely!” –Christina
“I am excited about this song, because I know what State of Emergency has done for me! No matter whether you have gone through heart ache, depression, sickness, or just life’s ups and downs; State of Emergency is that song that helps you to press on. From the day of recording it, this song has spoken life to me, because I know Jesus is going to turn it around!” –Crystal
