I was so glad to have participated in the St. Jude Celebration of Hope in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s is an annual seminar for St. Jude partners who support St. Jude’s African-American focused programs and events across the country. The weekend was very inspiring as it celebrated St. Jude partners’ fundraising successes of the preceding year, and reinforced the importance of their continued support of the St. Jude mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
As one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers, St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent, when the hospital opened in 1962, to 80 percent today. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
