The teen who testified about the night Trayvon Martin was shot and killed gave viewers an intimate portrait of who her friend really was. “Trayvon was not a thug,” she told Morgan.
Although some had made disparaging remarks about her communication skills and education, Rachel Jeantel proved to be a young lady who could indeed communicate and in some instances, rather bluntly.
She silenced many of her critics who had ridiculed her speech when she revealed that she had a speech impediment which requires surgery. Social media embraced her and there were many tweets and FB messages expressing love and respect for her.
Social media also rallied against Juror B37 who made less than positive remarks about Jenteal. Their grassroots efforts to shut down a book deal the juror had planned.
There’s also other great news for this young lady who stood up for her friend, Trayvon Martin. Rachel has been offered a scholarship by Tom Joyner. According to an article by our friends over at Elev8, Joyner said, ““I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like.”
