Let Freedom Sing
The Gospel of Choir of Howard University has been pretty busy this year.   The Stellar-nominated choir  (for their album, “Glorious God” has been traveling internationally lifting their voices. And, yes that was the famed choir sharing the stage with an all star line up in tribute to this year’s Kennedy Center honorees!  The choir is set to kick-off the new year with a bang as evidenced by the information that hit my inbox.

The choir will be in concert for a  special presentation, ” Let Freedom Sing,” celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin L. King Jr.  on Sunday January 14, 2018. The concert will be held at the Bowie Center for Performing Arts (15200 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715) at 6:00pm.

For the past four decades, HGC has set a very high standard as a premier performing arts ensemble. The choir has been privileged to sing at a wide variety of venues in and around the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan Area including: The White House, the Capitol Building, DAR Constitution Hall, Washington National Cathedral, the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Smithsonian Museum of American History. In 2016 the choir was one of the featured artists to perform at the Kennedy Center Honors (which aired on major network television channel CBS) and the star studded Emmy Award winning television special celebrating the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture called Taking the Stage co-produced by the legendary Quincy Jones (which aired on ABC).
