First Independent Gospel Artists Alliance Awards announced; submissions open Jan 1

The Independent Gospel Artists Alliance Awards will recognize the best recordings and performances of the past year

One of the premier conferences for independent artists is adding another exciting layer to their conference in 2019. Today, the Independent Gospel Artists Alliance, Inc. (IGAA) announced the 1st Annual Independent Gospel Artists Alliance Awards . The awards will celebrate independent Gospel, Christian, and Inspirational artists and their music.  Artists may submit their entries for award consideration starting January 1, 2019.  All entries must be submitted no later than April 27, 2019.

The Independent Gospel Artists Alliance Awards will recognize the best recordings and performances of the past year in 12 different categories.  Artists nominated for these awards will be distinguished artists and musicians in their local communities and around the country.

ndependent Gospel Artists Alliance The IGAA Awards will be held July 12, 2019 @ 7 p.m. at The Mount (Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 215 Las Gaviotas Blvd in Chesapeake, VA, where fans of independent Gospel, Christian and inspirational music will gather to watch their favorite artists and musicians claim their awards.  The awards show is free and open to the public.

The Independent Gospel Artists Alliance Awards is part of the annual IGAA Conference, a 3-day premier event that educates, motivates, and inspires independent artists and label owners to excellence in music entrepreneurship, technology, ministry, and artistry.   The IGAA Conference was founded by Phillip Carter and Earl Bynum in 2010.  Both are celebrated artists in their own right.

Phillip Carter co-founder of IGAAStellar Award Winner, Phillip Carter, has rapidly risen to national and international acclaim status as an anointed gospel recording artist and songwriter, accomplished musician, talented producer and director, noted consultant and conference founder, and mentor. Phillip and his group, Sounds of Victory (SOV), are the 2010 Stellar Award Winners for Fan Favorite Choir of the Year. He is the current Director of the Georgetown University Choir and is the former Director of the Bowie State University Gospel Choir and former Assistant Director of the Howard University Gospel Choir. In 2016, he co-founded the Bring Back the Choir New Music Forum that introduces songwriters to choir directors and ministers of music. In 2017, Phillip organized the Washington DC area chapter of the Alliance of Gospel Music Professionals and started the DMV Musicians and Singers Fellowship.

Earl BynumEarl Bynum is the Executive Minister of Music at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church (The Mount) in Chesapeake, VA and Elizabeth City, NC. His songwriting skills, vocal arranging creativity and gospel music artistry has elevated him as one of the most recognized leaders in music and ministry.  Earl Bynum and The Mount Unity Choir were voted Steve Harvey’s 2013 Hoodie Awards BEST CHURCH CHOIR. They also received the Choir of the Year Award at the 2013 Gospel Blue Mic Awards and earned The Album of The Year title at the 2013 DMV Christian Music Awards. Bynum then lead his pristine 100-voice choir on to receive three 2014 Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations: Contemporary Choir of the Year, Choir of the Year and Recorded Packaging of The Year.  Bynum and The Mount Unity Choir took home a 2014 Stellar Gospel Music Award for Contemporary Choir Of The Year for their debut CD/DVD Bishop K.W. Brown Presents Earl Bynum And The Mount Unity Choir Live. With his passion for music education and desire to continue to advance the Gospel music genre, Bynum is a music instructor at The Mount Lebanon Christian Academy.
