DMV Alliance of Gospel Music Professionals gather

On Monday, October 9, Stellar Award winner Phillip Carter convened the first meeting of the DMV Alliance of Gospel Music Professionals at Redeemed Christian Fellowship of Greater Washington in Capitol Heights, MD.

Artists, songwriters, musicians, radio personalities and media convened to hear Phillip Carter’s vison on the way forward for the organization that would be a support system for music professionals. Carter laid out his goals to educating artists and further educational opportunities for professionals; become actively aware and involved in adadvocacy and policy; mentorship; exploring resources and serving as a huge support base for events that happen in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia).

The night’s meeting was an opportunity to brainstorm ideas and express thoughts about the current state of the industry. Many rose to their feet to share their experiences or share useful advice.

Carter said that there are plans in the works for a large event in January. He also said that he is contemplating a big event at the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA). Carter plans to continue to get the word out about the benefits of joining the Alliance (membership is free the first year).
