Celebrate Recovery comes to Prince George's CountyThe arrival of the Celebrate Recovery program to the Washington, D.C. area is one of the top stories for the faith-based community this week.

On yesterday, June 4, Pastor Joel Peebles of The City of Praise Family Ministries announced the launch of the first Celebrate Recovery Program in Prince George’s County, MD.

Celebrate Recovery is a trademark program developed by Pastor Rick Warren, author of “The Purpose Driven Life.” The program offers life-changing support to people suffering from a wide variety of challenges. Celebrate Recovery tackles an individual’s dependency on alcohol, drugs and pornography. Those who suffer from issues such as low self-esteem, depression, anger and fear of rejection also benefit from the program.

“The City of Praise Family Ministries preaches and teaches the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ,” said Pastor Peebles in a statement released yesterday. “We are excited to offer Celebrate Recovery, a program that emphasizes life change based on Jesus Christ as the one and only higher power.”

Celebrate Recovery has achieved outstanding results. It offers participants a safe and non-threatening environment to address a multitude of challenges.

“We want people to have a place to seek refuge from the hurts of this world,” said Ylawnda Peebles, Co-Pastor of The City of Praise Family Ministries. “Celebrate Recovery works by providing not only a refuge, but also a place of healing.”

The Celebrate Recovery launch event will take place at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md. at 6:30 pm on June 7. The Celebrate Recovery ministry will be led by Minister Donald Ross. He is a certified addictions counselor who has worked in the area of recovery for over 20 years. Ross also serves as the Assistant Director of Addictions Counseling at the Central Union Mission in Washington, D.C.
