Anthony Nelson The Overcomers Deeper score hit

Inspired music has a way of drawing believers closer to the Lord. Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers, a collection of worshippers, do just that with the release of their new single, “Deeper.”

Penned by the group’s charismatic leader, the track is a melodic ballad which beckons for a deeper relationship with the Lord. The song, the first single from the group’s forthcoming EP entitled Worship: In Spirit and In Truth, is catching the attention of Gospel and Christian music lovers alike.

“Deeper” has reached No. 1 on Amazon’s Top 100 Christian Bestsellers, No. 1 on Amazon’s Top 100 Christian Hot New Releases, No. 1 on Amazon’s Top Movers & Shakers, No. 55 on Amazon’s Top 100 Bestsellers and No. 23 on Amazon’s Top 100 Hot New Releases lists.

Featuring splashes of acoustic guitar strumming, soft piano touches and moving vocals from The Overcomers, the true highlight on “Deeper” is Nelson’s lead vocals. The singer makes it easy to follow his lead as he takes listeners deeper into the presence of God. Fellow worshippers may find themselves singing along to the beautiful song. Borrowing stylings from contemporary Christian music, the simple tune is one sung directly to the Lord.

Nelson created the melody, the lyrics and the instrumentation on the track so it’s truly his heart apparent in the song. He says, “Sometimes it’s hard to know once you’ve created something how it’s going to be received. I am so grateful for the feedback and the recognition we’ve received. For me, ‘Deeper’ is an intimate song to the Lord; it’s a universal worship song. Simply put, ‘Deeper’ is the result of spending time with God.”

Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers will be shooting a video for the new song during an acoustic session. Their first CD, Love God, Love People was released in January 2016. His love for music began when he picked up the saxophone and ultimately ended up learning the alto and tenor saxes. Later he became proficient with other instruments including the piano, the acoustic guitar, the bass guitar, and the organ.
